While shooting my documentary, I was a bystander—capturing scenarios around the classroom and the children/adults within them. What I began to notice is the immensely loving care and consideration that teachers like Mrs. Watson, Mrs. Crites, and Mrs. Musawwir channel into their profession every day. Interactions like a sudden hug between student and teacher or complacent play between old and younger primaries show the successful execution of Watts’ Montessori philosophy. This execution begins with the teachers in everyday activities. Regardless of age within a classroom or the first language one has learned, I hoped to capture George Watts Montessori Magnet School’s care and equality towards everyone involved with (and beyond) this institution.
